X Bar Siem Reap : Rooftop Skate Ramp, Cheap Drinks, and Late Night Mayhem
Ever walked down Pub Street and seen that big blue neon X glowing above the rooftops? That’s X Bar, one of the wildest and most unique nightlife spots in Siem Reap.
If you’ve ever dreamed of skateboarding on a rooftop half-pipe while taking shots of Fireball and watching a fire show at 2am… well, dream no more. This is exactly the kind of chaotic fun that X Bar Siem Reap delivers!
A Siem Reap Nightlife Staple Since 2007
Opened in 2007, X Bar has cemented itself as a cornerstone of the Siem Reap nightlife scene. Located right at the end of Pub Street, it’s hard to miss 0 especially with its two tiered open-air rooftop setup that gives you a killer view of the party street below.
X Bar is just a short tuktuk ride away from the world famous Angkor Wat temple complex, so it draws a mix of backpackers, locals, and long-term expats all looking for a good time.
In 2024, X Bar opened up their middle floor (above 7-11 but below the rooftop chaos!) – where you can get a chilled out drink and watch all the happenings on Pub Street below from the balcony. With 2 pool tables, a dart board, shuffleboard and a private karaoke room that’s coming soon – there’s plenty to keep you occupied as you ease into the night!
Skate a Rooftop Ramp… Seriously
The most iconic feature of X Bar has to be the full-sized rooftop half-pipe skate ramp. It’s not just for show – this thing has some real history. Tony Hawk himself rode it during a visit to Cambodia, and ever since, it’s become a bit of a legend in Southeast Asia’s underground skate scene.
Didn’t bring your board? No worries. The friendly bar staff are usually happy to lend one out – just ask!
What to Expect at X Bar
Opening hours: 5pm until late (very late).
The vibe changes throughout the night. Head up early for a laid-back atmosphere with solid tunes and plenty to keep you busy. There are games tables galore: foosball, air hockey, pool, and of course, beer pong. It’s the perfect spot to ease into the night or pre-game before the chaos kicks off.
Happy hour runs until 10pm, with buy one, get one free on house cocktails. But that’s not all – they’re always running special promotions. 6 shots for $10 (yes, really) will make sure you get good bang for your buck! The balcony edge is prime people-watching territory with full views down the length of Pub Street.
From around 10pm, the energy ramps up. The place turns into a proper party bar packed with backpackers and bar hoppers, many coming in from Pub Street pub crawls and from the surrounding party hostels. With a mix of local and international DJs on rotation, expect everything from hip-hop and techno to rock and pop – depending on the night.
Live Music, Fire Shows & Punk Festivals
If you time it right, you might catch one of X Bar’s special events! Fire shows are a regular fixture, but the real gems are the live music nights.
In the past couple of years, standout events have included:
Slam City – an all night punk and metal festival with both Cambodian and international bands performing
Punkacolypse – a wild mix of punk and metal bands from around the world
These nights turn the rooftop bar into an all out party, with mosh pits and mic drops under the Cambodian night sky!
Drinks, Buckets & Bargains
X Bar’s drinks menu is stacked. Beers start at $1.25, with reasonably priced spirits and cocktails that won’t break the backpacker budget. And if you’re in the mood to go big, just grab a bucket – more booze, better value.
💡 Top tip: Look out for X Bar’s flyer staff handing out free shot vouchers on Pub Street. It’s worth grabbing one before heading up.
Live Sports & Late Night Shenanigans
Sports fans – don’t worry, X Bar has you covered. When major matches are on, they’re shown on the large screen projector, so you don’t have to miss the game while you party.
And if you stick around until the very end of the night (or early morning), you’ll probably bump into a few bleary-eyed travelers heading straight from X Bar to catch the Angkor Wat sunrise. Be a legend and wish them luck.

Not quite ready for the full X Bar experience? Ease into the night at Picasso Bar, a cosy cocktail spot just a short walk away. It’s a great place for chilled pre-drinks before heading up to the rooftop mayhem.
