A one of a kind new attraction for Siem Reap Cambodia, Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium’s incredible $70 million marine animal and wildlife complex opened it’s doors in Siem Reap in November 2022 much to the joy of residents and tourists. Adding to the roster of Siem Reap’s attractions, this is the perfect place to bring your family or friends for a fun day of entertainment, and you might actually learn a thing or two! Kids will for sure have an especially brilliant time here, but it’s fantastic for everyone!

Start your journey at Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium in the main air conditioned building where you’ll find Ocean World and Wonders of the River, home to hundreds of aquatic species that are native to South East Asia, accompanied by plenty of informative boards and interactive displays. One of these interactive portions of the journey include a touch pool where you can come up close and personal with some of the animals including rays and clownfish so be sure to help your kids find Nemo! The friendly, knowledgeable staff are always on hand to provide you with additional information.

From there, you can head outside to browse the Wildlife Park, which has been beautifully designed to the highest standards. The animals all have excellent living conditions and look healthy and happy, which is a breath of fresh air if you’ve been to other similar venues in the region. This is in part due to the Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium’s commitment to sustainable pratices and promoting responsible tourism. They have committed to ethical sourcing of all of their animals and have even partnered with an international conservation NGO to help care for animals that were previously victims of the illegal pet trade or illegal hunting practices.

Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium has also made other efforts to ensure responsibility and sustainability, including;
– Using solar panels to provide some of the park’s power
Collecting rainwater and reusing waste water
– Targeting a zero waste goal, partly by reusing food waste such as repurposing fish heads and bones, which would usually go to waste, as feed for the large carnivorous fish and crocodiles and creating fertiliser from the dead fish

After you’ve passed through the peaceful butterfly garden, you’ll find yourself with various pathways to take which could lead you to multiple exhibits with larger animals such as tigers, sun bears, otters and of course, crocodiles. Or you could head straight to the picnic area for a nice hotdog or a drink from the juice shack!

If you’ve ever wanted to come up close and personal with the reptiles of South East Asia in a safe environment, be sure to check out the reptile house where you’ll find creatures including toads, lizards, scorpions and snakes, like the King Cobra or the Burmese Python!

Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium is located around 25km via tuktuk from Siem Reap centre, along Road 6 to the west of town, and is open daily from 8am-5pm. The entrance fee costs $20 for adults and $11 for kids (Including 10% VAT) and can be booked online or purchased on arrival. Discounts are available for residents, and children under 90cm can enter for free. An absolute bargain in our opinion! See below for a map of the park.

Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium also hosts public events and can be hired for wedding parties and private events so be sure to check out their website by clicking HERE for more information.

If you’re looking for other things to do whilst you’re in Siem Reap, don’t forget to check out Phnom Kulen National Park!
