Siem Reap has come a long way from being just the gateway to Angkor Wat. In 2025, this small but vibrant Cambodian city has transformed into one of Southeast Asia’s coolest destinations – a mix of culture, adventure, creativity, and relaxation. Whether you’re a first time visitor or you’ve been here before, there’s always something new to discover.

With new Siem Reap attractions opening every year, we decided to update our previous guide to make sure that people get the most up to date information!

Kulen Mountain Campsite Siem Reap

3. Angkor Wildlife & Aquarium

This modern attraction opened in 2022 and is one of the best family friendly Siem Reap attractions. At Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium you can see freshwater fish, crocodiles, otters, and other rare species while learning about Cambodia’s conservation efforts. All species of animal in the aquarium and wildlife park are native to Southeast Asia, so it’s a great learning experience for everyone. 4. Kulen Elephant Forest

Unlike traditional elephant tourism in Southeast Asia, this sanctuary focuses on ethical care and rehabilitation. Visitors can spend a half day or full day walking beside rescued elephants in a natural forest environment – a truly unforgettable experience. NO RIDING is allowed here – and you can be sure that the animals are well loved and cared for. Kulen Elephant Forest is located within Phnom Kulen National Park.

5. Angkor Zipline

If you’re after adrenaline, head to Angkor Zipline. Glide through the forest canopy and take in the incredible views of Angkor Park from above. It’s a thrilling way to add some adventure to your Siem Reap itinerary and is one of many great family friendly Siem Reap attractions to get the blood pumping!

6. Angkor Eye Ferris Wheel

For panoramic views of the city and countryside, ride the Angkor Eye – a giant Ferris located off National Road 6. It’s especially beautiful at sunset when the sky glows over Siem Reap. Take in the scenery with an 18 minute ride on this 60 metre tall ferris wheel – only a 10 minute tuktuk from Pub Street.

7. Made in Cambodia Market

This artisanal market showcases locally made crafts, art, and souvenirs. It’s ideal for finding unique gifts while supporting Cambodian crafters. Made in Cambodia market is a nice alternative to the local markets if you’re looking for a more peaceful shopping experience and exclusively Cambodian-made products. They now have multiple locations in Siem Reap and offer a wide range of products from clothing and souvenirs to locally made spirits and artworks!

8. Artisans d’Angkor

Learn how traditional Cambodian crafts are made at Artisans d’Angkor. You can learn how the local artisans carve wood, paint silk, and create intricate stonework – all while helping preserve local skills and support local initiatives. Don’t forget to pick up some beautiful souvenirs here! One of the most popular Siem Reap attractions, Artisans d’Angkor is a great way to spend a relaxed afternoon.

9. Tonle Sap Lake & Floating Villages

Just a short drive from Siem Reap, Tonle Sap Lake (Southeast Asia’s biggest freshwater lake!) is home to fascinating floating villages like Kampong Phluk and Chong Kneas. Visiting during the wet season will reward you with a glimpse of life on the water including stilted homes, floating schools, lively markets, and crocodile farms! 10. APOPO Siem Reap

Meet the famous HeroRATs at APOPO – trained rats that safely detect landmines and save lives all around the world. APOPO’s visitor center is both educational and inspiring, showing Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to recover from its difficult past. 11. Khmer Ceramics & Fine Arts Centre

Try your hand at pottery making in this hands-on workshop, where you can shape your own clay creations. It’s a fun and relaxing cultural activity for visitors of all ages where you can get some insight into traditional ceramic making practices. Khmer Ceramics and Fine Arts Centre is located in town and only a short ride from Pub Street.

12. 60 Road Night Market & Funfair

Popular with locals, this night market on Road 60 is full of street food, games, and small rides. It’s chaotic, colourful, and one of the most authentic local experiences in Siem Reap. 60 Road Night Market also frequently hosts Kun Khmer boxing tournaments! (Usually on Saturday nights) To get the most of the market, we recommend visiting with a local – so hit up your favourite tuktuk driver and ask them to take you there so you can experience one of the best local Siem Reap attractions.

13. Cambodia Landmine Museum

Founded by a former child soldier, this museum tells the powerful story of Cambodia’s landmine crisis and ongoing clearance work. It’s sobering but deeply important to understand the country’s resilience. Cambodia Landmine museum is located within the Angkor National Park near Banteay Srei, so it can be paired with a visit to the beautiful 10th century temple.

14. Wake Park Cambodia

15. Level Up Co-Working Space

Join locals and expats for a fun evening of board games, Dungeons & Dragons, or even Magic: The Gathering. Level Up is more than a workspace, it’s a creative community. They also hold events such as Riel Talks – informative evenings with Ted Talk style presentations on various interesting topics. 16. Angkor Botanical Gardens

A peaceful spot for nature lovers, the Angkor Botanical Gardens feature native flowers, lush greenery, and shaded walking paths. It’s ideal for a slow morning away from the crowds. The botanical gardens are completely free to visit and it’s a great way to spend a morning chilling out and taking in the beautiful plant life, or visiting the various animals that live there! 17. Chrey Buffalo Cart Community

Take a traditional buffalo cart ride through rice fields and learn about rural Cambodian life. This eco-tourism project directly supports local families in the Chrey village area. This is certainly one of the more unique Siem Reap attractions that provides an incredible insight into traditional farming and living practices of Khmer culture.

18. Jewellery Making at AMMO

Design your own piece of jewellery using recycled bullet casings at AMMO, a workshop that turns symbols of conflict into art. It’s creative, meaningful, and very fun! AMMO workshop is a social enterprise empowering local women and youth through jewellery making. What better way to spend a couple of hours than crafting your own unique piece of jewellery to take home and show off to your friends?

19. Local Cooking Classes

Learn how to cook Khmer dishes like Amok and Lok Lak with local chefs. Many classes include a visit to a local market – one of the most interesting local Siem Reap experiences. There are many cooking classes available in Siem Reap and most hotels or travel guides can easily arrange this for you. Not only do you get to learn about Cambodian culture – you get to eat it too!

21. Koh Ker Pyramid Temple

Koh Ker is an ancient pyramid temple around 2 hours north of Siem Reap. It’s quieter than Angkor Wat but just as impressive, with jungle surroundings and panoramic views from the top. It’s unique design, similar to the Mayan temples of South America, stands out from the rest of the temples in Cambodia and is well worth a visit if you’ve got the time! If you don’t fancy doing the journey there and back in a day, accomodation is available in the area.

22. Paintball Siem Reap

Get your adrenaline pumping with a paintball match at Paintball Siem Reap! It’s a fun group activity for friends or travellers looking for lesser known Siem Reap attractions or a way to spend a few hours inbetween cultural experiences.

23. Go Karting at Angkor Speedway

Race your friends around a well designed go kart track at Angkor Speedway. It’s a blast for both beginners and experienced drivers – and surprisingly affordable with frequent discounts and promotions. Angkor Speedway is around 40 minutes from town via tuktuk, but there’s plenty of great views along the way and you can easily spend half a day here.

24. Visit the Lotus Farms

Just outside Siem Reap, these lotus farms grow beautiful lotus flowers used in teas, textiles, and natural products. You can learn how the fibres are turned into eco-friendly fabrics and other products. Alternatively – spend an afternoon here relaxing in wooden huts over the lotus ponds with some food and drinks!

25. Try Local Craft Beers at Pomme or Embargo

Cambodia’s craft beer scene is small but growing. Pomme and Embargo are two of the best bars in Siem Reap for locally brewed beers and good conversation. The beers on offer frequently change so you’re in for a new experience even if you’ve been before!

26. Browse Souvenirs at the Old Market

The Old Market (Psar Chaa) is one of Siem Reap’s most iconic shopping spots. From handmade jewellery to spices and fabrics, you’ll find a little bit of everything. Located right by Pub Street and the Siem Reap river, Old Market is one of the most popular Siem Reap attractions. Whether you’re looking for food, souvenirs, clothes or a new set of tools – you’ll find it here!

27. Traditional Apsara Dance at Kanell Restaurant

Enjoy dinner and a live Apsara dance performance at Kanell. The setting is beautiful, the food is excellent, and the cultural show is mesmerizing. Apsara is a traditional form of Cambodian dancing, and Kanell shows run 7 days a week – 365 days a year. We recommend making a reservation before turning up.

28. Party on Pub Street

Love Nightlife? Whilst there’s plenty to be found in Siem Reap – it wouldn’t be right to be in town and miss one of the most visited Siem Reap attractions! Whilst Pub Street’s loud music and bright lights aren’t for everyone, we still think you should check it out, even if it’s just so you can say you did! There’s also plenty of restaurants in the area from all types of cuisine to grab some dinner. 29. Laser Tag at Laser Game Cambodia

One of the newer Siem Reap attractions, Laser Game Cambodia opened up this year right near Pub Street and is great fun for all the family. With a fully immersive environment and the latest tech, you’re sure to have a great time!

30. Phare, The Cambodian Circus

Phare Circus combines theatre, dance, and acrobatics to tell powerful local stories (no mistreated animals at this circus!). It’s one of Siem Reap’s top rated evening shows and a must see for any visitor. Phare Circus runs nightly shows that rotate between different stories, so even if you’ve been before you have the chance to experience a completely different show.

31. Golf at Angkor Golf Resort

Designed by Nick Faldo, this world class golf course in Siem Reap is great for a morning tee off. Even if you’re not a serious golfer, the views and facilities are top notch. They have a fantastic driving range and even better daily deals. If (like most people!) you aren’t travelling with your clubs and gear, they have everything you need available for rent. Angkor Golf Resort is one of two high end golf courses in Siem Reap and attracts thousands of visitors from all around the world.

32. Hot Air Balloon Ride

For one of the most unforgettable views of Siem Reap, take a hot air balloon ride. You’ll see the countryside and temples from above – it’s breathtaking at sunrise or sunset! Angkor Balloon, (the tethered balloon) is closed until September 2026 for balloon replacements – but Cambodia Balloon Adventures runs throughout the high season and operates a manned flight across the Siem Reap countryside. Certainly one of the more adventurous Siem Reap attractions!

33. Royal Sports Club

Sometimes when you’re travelling you just need a bit of ‘me time’ – or excercise to burn off the excess beers! Tennis, padel, basketball, swimming, or even yoga – Royal Sports Club has it all. It’s the best place in Siem Reap to stay active during your trip. If you’re looking for a 24 hour gym in Siem Reap with excellent facilities (including steam rooms and saunas!) then we highly recommend this affordable but excellent fitness centre.

34. Silk Farms

Visit one of Siem Reap’s silk farms to see the fascinating process of silk production all the way from silkworms to finished scarves. It’s an amazing glimpse into Cambodian craftsmanship and an eye opener on how one of the world’s most famous materials is made!

35. ArtBox Siem Reap

Step into a world of optical illusions and 3D art. ArtBox is fun for all ages and perfect for creative photos – a quirky indoor activity for rainy days. This indoor venue a short drive from the town centre and is air conditioned. It might not be Siem Reap specific – but sometimes you need to find creative ways to keep the kids occupied!

36. Royal Archery Club

Try traditional Cambodian archery under expert guidance at Royal Archery Club. It’s a unique sport that offers a mix of culture, focus, and fun. I know it may seem like we have a lot of shooting-related Siem Reap attractions, but that’s the last one I promise! Whether you’re a seasoned professional, a complete amateur, or someone who just wants to watch – it’s a great day out!

37. Siem Reap Food Tours

Join a guided food tour to taste authentic Khmer dishes at local restaurants and street stalls. It’s a delicious way to explore Siem Reap’s culinary scene. If you don’t fancy a cooking class but still want to experience the incredible local Cambodian food that can be found around town, book in for a food tour and let someone else do the work for you!

38. Basket Weaving at Rokhak Women’s Handicraft

Rokhak is a social enterprise right in the middle of town (at SPOONS restaurant) where you can earn traditional basket weaving techniques from local women. This sustainable workshop supports rural artisans while offering visitors a chance to create something by hand. We recommend booking in advance for this!

39. Live Rock Show at Atlantis Metal Bar

For live music fans, Atlantis Metal Bar is Siem Reap’s home of rock and metal. Expect great bands, cold drinks, and a local crowd who love their music loud. 40. Horse Riding at Happy Ranch Horse Farm

Explore the countryside on horseback with guided rides through villages and rice fields with The Happy Ranch. It’s peaceful, scenic, and an amazing way to see rural Siem Reap. They offer horseback riding or horsedrawn cart rides which hold up to 4 people! Located at the end of Sok San road, it’s easy to get to. We do advise booking well in advance though.

41. Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre

Banteay Srei Butterfly Centre is a peaceful eco-attraction where you can walk through a lush tropical garden filled with hundreds of colourful butterflies native to Cambodia. Located near the Banteay Srei temple area, it’s a great stop for nature lovers, families, and photographers looking for a quiet escape from the busier Siem Reap attractions. The centre also supports local conservation efforts and teaches visitors about the life cycle of butterflies, making it both beautiful and educational.

42. Bouldering Climbing Wall at Blue Monkey Siem Reap
