Feeling hungry and want the biggest feed you can find for under ten dollars? Look no further than Red Crab Seafood BBQ Buffet Restaurant Siem Reap! Red Crab is an all you can eat unlimited buffet with a massive selection, located roughly ten minutes from Pub Street via tuk-tuk (exact location provided below). Drawing a mostly local crowd, Red Crab boasts foods from many nationalities, both pre-cooked and self cook (with on-table charcoal BBQ’s and hotpots!) for just $9.99 per person.
The price includes unlimited soft drinks including Pepsi, grape juice, orange juice and iced tea. Beer is also available at an extra charge, which is very reasonably priced too! If you’re bringing the whole family, children under 1.2m tall can eat too, with a 50% discount. There is of course free water and ice available at the self service drinks counter.
Red Crab Seafood Buffet is a pretty large venue that seats around 300 people total. The restaurant itself is open air, but it has a retractable roof. They keep the roof open when it’s dry to help the heat from all the BBQ’s escape and have plenty of fans to keep some airflow throughout the venue, though we advise dressing light as naturally it can get quite hot when you’re surrounded by fires! Of course, the retractable roof will be closed when it’s raining or about to rain!
Red Crab Seafood Buffet is open 7 days a week, from 4pm until 10pm. This is a very popular restaurant among local Cambodians and can get incredibly busy, so if you’d prefer it to be a bit quieter we’d suggest heading there not too soon after it opens and visiting on a weekday. From around 6pm onwards, it can get very lively in here! Don’t worry though, the staff are constantly replenishing the buffet with food so you won’t miss out, it’ll just be busier! The selection of food at Red Crab Seafood Buffet is huge. They have an entire range of fresh seafood, including fresh shrimp, squid, oysters, fish, clams, and of course, crab! In addition to all of the seafood you’ll find plenty of meats all sliced up and prepared ready for cooking. The meats include chicken, beef, pork and duck, all prepared in various ways so there’s something everyone will enjoy. They also have a wide range of pre-cooked and ready to eat food such as marinated BBQ skewers, curries, noodles, sushi, tempura and soups. After you finish your dinner, if you’re not too stuffed you can hit up the fresh fruit bar and the ice cream cooler for dessert!
How does it work?
When you enter Red Crab Seafood Buffet, you’ll be taken to a table and given the option whether you want to BBQ your food or cook it hotpot style (or both!) and they will then bring the cooking equipment to your table. If you opt for the hotpot, the staff will provide a big pot on a gas stove which they will top up with broth for you whenever you need. Then you simply wander round the food sections and pick whatever you want and take it back to your table to cook, and off you go!
Take as much food as you want, but make sure you want everything you take, as there’s a $3 surcharge per plate of uneaten food to prevent wastage, which we wholeheartedly agree with! You can always go back for more as many times as you want so make sure your eyes aren’t bigger than your stomach!
Is there food available for vegans and vegetarians?
Naturally, being a primarily seafood and meat buffet, the options are a bit more limited. However, Red Crab Seafood Buffet has a fantastic selection of fresh vegetables, tofu based options for the hotpot, and non meat options including vegetable curries and vegetable tempura. There is also a fruit bar with lots and lots of fresh fruit for you to enjoy.
