Bamboo Bridge Siem Reap, located just to the North West of the Angkor Wat temple complex, and not far away from the Angkor Thom temple, is a great way to spend a day out with your friends. The land there has been converted into a large manmade lake that’s well stocked with hungry fish for you to catch.

Built on stilts around the edge of the lake, and with bamboo walkways (hence the name – Bamboo Bridge!) leading right into the centre of the lake is plenty of comfortable bamboo huts that have been built for you to relax in while you go fishing. The huts themselves are all stocked with floor mats, swinging hammocks and comfortable cushions for you to sit on. There’s a large table in the centre for you to eat at and the large huts all have fans to keep you cool! If you’d prefer, you can sit at one of the dens built over the water and enjoy a nice cold beer while waiting for the fish to bite!

The ambiance and scenery here is incredibly beautiful. If you’re not planning to fish, we highly recommend still checking out this awesome spot and spending an afternoon chilling out in a hammock and enjoying some delicious food while taking in the scenery away from the buzz of Siem Reap town and Pub Street.
If you’re planning to eat here, we particularly enjoy the cooked whole chicken with chilli.

We especially recommend hanging around until sunset, when the sun hits the water and provides a fantastic view.

Bamboo Bridge has plenty of (homemade bamboo) fishing rods for you to use, complete with hooks and floats. The venue can also provide bags of fishing bait for you. On our last visit, we were also provided (upon request) a high quality telescopic fishing pole and reel.

If you’re a serious fisherman, we recommend bringing your own rods or renting one from in town before you head out for a day of fishing and fun! The cooks here will fry or barbecue any fish you catch for you if you want to eat them afterwards. They can also bring you a small barbecue if you’d like to cook them yourselves. If you’re looking for things to do in Siem Reap after you’ve visited Angkor Wat, Bamboo Bridge is one of our favourites and we love heading out with some friends to enjoy some fishing and some cold beers.

If you’re not confident in your abilities to fish for your dinner, or you’re just planning to head out here for the beautiful and relaxing scenery, Bamboo Bridge has a full menu (in English and Khmer) of hot and cold food available for you to order from. Prices are not the cheapest, but very reasonable! Especially considering you get to enjoy the food in such a wonderful environment. They also have plenty of cold drinks available including waters, soft drinks and beers.

Bamboo Bridge is around 18km from town, which is roughly a 30 minute drive. For the exact location, CLICK HERE for a Google Maps pin. Please be aware that as you near the venue, the roads are currently being improved and some sections are not in great condition. We advise heading out there with a tuktuk driver who’ll get you there safely, and you’ll get to enjoy the drive through a more rural part of Siem Reap. If you have your own motorbike or car, take care when you approach these parts of the journey with uneven road.

Getting to Bamboo Bridge will take you out past the Angkor Wat temple complex and the venue itself is located not far from Angkor Thom temple. Previously, this may have caused you to need an Angkor Pass, but recently a change was made allowing people to use the roads in the Angkor Archeological park without a temple ticket. (You still need a pass to enter any temples). However, if this changes, you can still get here without passing the Angkor ticket checkpoints, it’ll just add a few minutes to your journey by avoiding Preah Sihanouk Avenue.

This great relaxing fishing spot is open 9am-7pm, 7 days a week. For more information or to get in touch with them, CLICK HERE to be taken to their Facebook page. We usually visit Bamboo Bridge on a weekday when it’s more likely to be quiet (and super peaceful!) but even on a weekend you should have no problem finding your perfect bamboo hut to relax in.
